Nagar Panchayat Itself Accused of Filling Pond with Garbage in Kamalpur; Residents Allege Threats Over Protest

KAMALPUR: Residents of Rishi Para under Ward No. 2 of Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat have accused the civic body itself of filling up a local pond by dumping garbage into it, alleging that the practice has polluted the surrounding environment.

According to local residents, the pond is being filled with waste allegedly on the initiative of the Nagar Panchayat, raising concerns over environmental degradation and civic accountability in the ward.

Residents further alleged that when they raised objections and protested against the dumping, they were threatened with legal action, discouraging them from pursuing the matter further.

The allegations have sparked concern among locals, who say the pond served an important environmental and community function in the area. They have called for the immediate halt of the dumping activity and appropriate remedial measures to restore the water body.

No official response has yet been received from the Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat regarding the allegations.
