The Tripura Pradesh Unorganised Workers’ Congress organised a procession followed by a mass sit-in demonstration, raising a charter of demands centred on the rising cost of living in the state.
The protesters demanded a rollback in the prices of CNG, LPG, and cooking gas, along with relief from the continuing rise in electricity bills and the prices of daily essential commodities.
The organisation also demanded a hike in wages for ASHA workers, Mid-Day Meal workers, and DDT (anti-malaria spray) workers, along with regularisation of their services.
Participants raised slogans against the price rise and the government’s handling of essential services, calling for immediate intervention to ease the burden on the state’s unorganised workforce.
The demonstration reflected growing discontent among scheme and daily-wage workers over stagnant pay and rising household expenses, with organisers indicating that the protest was part of a wider campaign to press the government on these issues.
