Agartala: Police at East Women’s Police Station are yet to arrest the accused in the alleged kidnapping and rape of a female student from the College Tilla area, even as the case continues to draw public outrage.
Protesting the delay, members of Left-affiliated women’s, youth, and student organisations staged a demonstration in front of the East Women’s Police Station, demanding immediate arrest of those responsible and swift justice for the survivor.
Speaking to the media, Left youth leader Sandipan Deb criticised the police for the delay in apprehending the accused, calling it a failure to ensure the safety and security of women and students in the state.
The protesters raised slogans demanding accountability from the police administration and urged authorities to expedite the investigation.
The incident has sparked concern among various sections of civil society over women’s safety, with organisers indicating that further protest action could follow if arrests are not made soon.
