AGARTALA: The West Tripura District Administration has issued an advisory asking the public to avoid using the Katakhal embankment and the Durgachowmuhani-Pragati backside road, citing safety concerns following recent heavy rainfall.
District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar said that portions of the roads and embankment in these areas have become vulnerable due to the continuous downpour over the past few days. In the interest of public safety, residents have been requested to refrain from using the stretches until further directives are issued.
According to the administration, the situation is being monitored on a regular basis, and necessary repair and protective measures are currently being carried out to address the risk.
Citizens have been advised to use alternative routes in the meantime and to cooperate with the administration’s guidelines. The advisory comes amid a broader spell of heavy rainfall that has already led to school closures in West Tripura and Sepahijala districts, as well as waterlogging and traffic disruption in Agartala city.
