Waterlogging Woes Persist in Minister’s Own Constituency, Residents Allege Official Apathy

JOLAIBARI: Residents of Paschim Jolaibari Shilpi Para say they continue to face severe waterlogging even during light rainfall, alleging that a lack of proper drainage during the construction of the new Bilonia-Jolaibari road is to blame.

Locals said the flooding has damaged several homes and made it difficult for residents to reach schools, hospitals, and markets along the affected stretch. They alleged that repeated complaints to the local panchayat representative and Block Panchayat Samiti Chairman Tapas Dutta have not resulted in any corrective action.

Residents further alleged that despite the area falling within a constituency that officials have previously described as a “model” assembly segment, ground realities do not reflect the development claimed on social media.

Frustrated by the lack of response, residents on Monday approached the media to publicly raise their grievances and said they have appealed directly to the Chief Minister for a resolution.
