South District Magistrate Inspects Rs 80-Crore Muhuri River Embankment Work

BILONIA: South District Magistrate on Monday conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing Rs 80-crore Muhuri River embankment renovation project in Bilonia, aimed at protecting the South District headquarters from potential flooding.

The inspection was carried out along with the Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department, the Executive Engineer of the Water Resources Department, and other concerned officials, who reviewed the progress of the embankment work first-hand.

During the visit, the District Magistrate directed officials to ensure that the quality of construction is strictly maintained throughout the project. Emphasis was placed on adhering to prescribed engineering standards, given the embankment’s critical role in safeguarding the district headquarters from flood risk.

Officials reviewed various stages of the ongoing work and discussed measures to expedite completion without compromising on durability and safety standards.

The Muhuri river embankment has been a long-standing concern for South District, with previous flooding incidents underscoring the need for a robust flood-protection infrastructure. The renovation project is expected to significantly reduce flood vulnerability in the area once completed.
