GOLAGHATI: A vital bridge connecting Ramhari Para under Golaghati Assembly Constituency was washed away following heavy rainfall, cutting off the only road link used by residents of the area for daily commute.
Locals said the bridge, which served as the sole means of connectivity for the village, was completely destroyed by the force of the swollen waters, leaving residents stranded and struggling to access neighbouring areas for essential needs, including healthcare, education, and markets. With no alternative route available, villagers expressed deep concern over the hardship this has caused, particularly for school-going children, the elderly, and those requiring urgent medical attention.
Residents alleged that the bridge had been in a weak and neglected condition for a long time, with repeated appeals made to the administration for repair or reconstruction going unheeded. They claimed that the recent heavy rains merely exposed the long-standing fragility of the structure.
Locals have now demanded immediate intervention from the administration to construct a new, sturdier bridge at the earliest, warning that continued neglect could leave the area isolated, especially during the monsoon season when such damage is likely to recur.
