Agartala: The Tripura Auto-Rickshaw Workers’ Union State Committee organized a voluntary blood donation camp in the capital city, drawing significant participation from transport workers and local residents. The initiative was aimed at addressing the acute shortage of blood in state-run hospital blood banks and promoting community healthcare.
The event witnessed the presence of several high-profile dignitaries, including former Chief Minister and veteran leader Manik Sarkar, alongside prominent trade union representatives.
Addressing the gathering, Manik Sarkar highly praised the transport workers for their selflessness. He emphasized that blood donation is one of the most noble forms of social service, especially during a time when healthcare facilities face critical supply gaps. Other speakers highlighted that auto-rickshaw drivers, who interact daily with the public, are setting a strong example of social responsibility by stepping forward for this cause.
Medical teams from the local state hospital monitored the camp to ensure strict safety and hygiene protocols. Dozens of union members successfully donated blood during the day-long drive. The organizers expressed deep gratitude to all the donors and guests, reaffirming their commitment to hosting similar humanitarian initiatives in the future.
