SFI, TSU Submit Deputation to AGMC Principal Over Hostel Security After Intrusion Incident

Agartala:The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and Tribal Students’ Union (TSU) submitted a joint deputation to the Principal of Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) on Thursday, demanding immediate strengthening of security at the college’s women’s hostel following an intrusion incident on July 30 involving a female student.

A delegation of the two student organisations met the AGMC Principal and placed before him a set of demands centred on student safety and security. Speaking after the meeting, student leaders said the incident had caused deep concern and heightened fear among students, teachers, and the wider public, drawing comparisons with previous incidents of violence against women at R.G. Kar Medical College and in Delhi.

Their central demand was for an immediate upgrade of security arrangements around the women’s hostel. The organisations also raised concerns over what they described as delay in the arrest of the accused in the case.

They warned that if the college administration failed to act on their demands and if any further negligence came to light, they would move beyond deputations and take their protest to the streets.
