AGARTALA: National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar concluded her three-day visit to Tripura on Thursday, with a packed final-day schedule that included institutional visits, security reviews, and awareness programmes on women’s safety, alongside a press interaction held during the day at the State Guest House here.
According to a media advisory issued by the News Bureau, ICA Department, Rahatkar addressed media persons at the State Guest House as part of her engagements in the state capital. Earlier in the day, she visited Agartala Central Jail and held discussions with the Officer-in-Charge of Tripura Police and senior police officials on issues concerning women’s safety and law enforcement sensitivity.
She later attended an awareness programme on the prevention of stalking at a private hotel in Agartala, where she also inaugurated the official website of the Tripura State Women’s Commission. The visit concluded with her participation in a workshop at Sukanta Academy focused on the prevention of sexual harassment at the workplace.
Rahatkar’s Tripura tour, which began on July 28, also included stops in Udaipur, where she reviewed child marriage awareness efforts and inspected a One Stop Centre, besides a review meeting with district police and administration.
