JIRANIA: Residents of Barduar Para, under Champa Village Committee in Belbari Block of Jirania subdivision, have alleged severe hardship due to an acute shortage of drinking water, with locals claiming that neither the administration nor elected representatives have responded adequately to their plight.
Speaking to media persons, villagers said that while the Block administration does supply water through tankers, the supply is reportedly irregular and insufficient to meet their daily needs. They alleged that despite repeated appeals, no concrete steps have been taken to resolve the crisis.
Residents further pointed out that their locality lacks a dedicated drinking water pump, and said that installation of one would go a long way in easing their difficulties. They urged the state government and the concerned department to take urgent notice of the situation and provide a permanent solution.
The villagers also expressed dissatisfaction over what they described as a lack of responsiveness from public representatives to their repeated grievances.
Local residents said the water crisis has persisted for a considerable period, with hill areas of the block among the worst affected, and called for immediate remedial action from authorities.
