Locals Risk Lives Crossing Dangerous Bridge in Mandai as Authorities Remain Indifferent

Mandai:The side wall of a crucial bridge connecting Bishwaram Begram Para under Mandai Assembly Constituency has remained collapsed for nearly five months, with no repair work undertaken so far by the concerned department, administration, or local elected representatives, sparking growing resentment among residents.

The bridge serves as the only route for local residents to reach schools, colleges, hospitals, and markets, forcing them to risk their lives daily while commuting through its dilapidated structure. Locals warn that the prevailing condition of the bridge could lead to a major accident at any time if left unattended.

Residents alleged that despite repeated appeals, Mandai MLA Swapna Debbarma and MDC Jagadish Debbarma have failed to take any concrete steps towards repairing the damaged side wall, leaving the matter unresolved for months.

Speaking to the media, local residents voiced their frustration and demanded immediate intervention from the administration and elected representatives to repair the bridge before any untoward incident occurs.

They further warned that if the authorities continue to remain indifferent to their plight, they would be compelled to intensify their protest to draw attention to the issue and ensure the safety of commuters using the route.
