Agartala: Shri Kiran Gitte, Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, attended as Chief Guest at the National Organ Donation Day programme held on August 3, 2026, at Pragna Bhavan, Hall No. 1, Agartala, starting at 11 AM.
The event was organised to mark National Organ Donation Day, observed annually to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation and to encourage citizens to pledge their organs, thereby giving a new lease of life to patients suffering from organ failure.
The programme brought together health officials, medical practitioners and members of the public to discuss the significance of organ donation and the need to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding the practice. Speakers highlighted the acute shortage of organ donors in the country and underscored the role of public awareness campaigns in bridging the gap between demand and availability of organs.
The Health & Family Welfare Department reiterated its commitment to strengthening organ donation infrastructure in the state and encouraged citizens to come forward and register as organ donors.
The observance of National Organ Donation Day serves as a reminder of the life-saving potential of organ donation and aims to foster a culture of voluntary donation across the state.
