GANDACHERRA: A horrific case of filicide has sent shockwaves through Ultachhara ADC Village under Gandacherra subdivision, after a man allegedly beat his two young children to death in a fit of drunken rage on Saturday morning.
The accused, identified as Lalchuanama Bru, a resident of the Bru Settlement Camp area, reportedly returned home in a heavily intoxicated state in the early hours and first attacked his wife, Ramtaru Bru. The woman managed to flee the house with one of her children, narrowly escaping the assault.
Left behind in the house were the couple’s two other children — a four-year-old son and a twelve-year-old daughter. According to police and local accounts, the father allegedly used a piece of firewood to bludgeon both children to death.
Acting swiftly, police arrived at the scene and detained the accused. The bodies of the two deceased children have been sent to the morgue at Gandacherra Subdivisional Hospital for post-mortem examination.
The incident has triggered widespread shock and outrage in the locality, with residents demanding strict legal action against the accused. Police have registered a case and launched a formal investigation into the matter.
