AMBASSA: Railway police scored another success in their ongoing anti-narcotics drive after detaining a woman from Bihar with 3 kg of dried ganja at Ambassa Railway Station on Saturday.
Acting on confidential information, a joint team of Agartala and Ambassa railway police conducted the operation at the station. A search of the suspected woman’s bag led to the recovery of several packets of ganja concealed inside, following which she was taken into custody.
According to police sources, the woman, a resident of Bihar, is currently being questioned to ascertain the source of the narcotics and its intended destination. A case has been registered against her under relevant sections of law, and railway police have launched a formal investigation into the matter.
Railway police authorities said the operation forms part of a continuing crackdown aimed at curbing the inflow of narcotics through rail routes into the state. Officials reiterated that such drives, aimed at making Tripura drug-free, will continue in the coming days.
