KARBOOK: A devastating fire gutted a residential house and kitchen at Jangta Toisha ADC Village in Karbook subdivision on Monday morning, causing an estimated loss of nearly ₹18 lakh, according to the affected family.
The fire broke out around 9 AM at the residence of Chaitra Kumar Jamatia and spread rapidly through the house and kitchen. Furniture, clothes, important documents, around ₹81,000 in cash, foodgrains, rubber, and other valuables were destroyed, the family said.
A team from the Karbook fire department reached the spot and brought the blaze under control after a prolonged effort, though most household items had already been destroyed by then.
Energy Devi Tripura, President of the TWF Central Committee of the Tipra Motha party, visited the affected family on learning of the incident. She expressed condolences and assured them of support, stating that an appeal would be made to the administration to ensure the family receives compensation as per government norms. She expressed hope that the government would extend prompt assistance to help the family rebuild their lives.
