UNAKOTI: A district-level programme on ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ (Save Farmland Campaign) and natural farming was organised at Swami Vivekananda Hall in Shrirampur on Friday, aimed at promoting sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural practices among farmers in Unakoti district.
The programme was inaugurated by Tinku Roy, Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Education and Social Welfare Department, Government of Tripura, who formally launched the initiative by watering a sapling.
Among the dignitaries present were Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Amalendu Das, Municipal Council Chairperson Chapala Devroy, Chandipur Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Sampa Das Pal, and Zilla Parishad members Bimal Kar and Shyamal Das, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister emphasised the need for farmers to adopt natural and chemical-free farming methods to ensure long-term soil health and environmental sustainability, while also highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting such initiatives at the grassroots level.
The programme is part of a broader state-wide drive to protect agricultural land and encourage farmers to shift towards natural farming techniques, in line with the government’s vision for sustainable rural development.
