Agartala: Daily Desher Katha celebrated its 48th foundation day on Friday with the organisation of a blood, posthumous body, and eye donation camp at the newspaper’s office hall, drawing participation from donors and well-wishers of the publication.
Former Chief Minister and CPI(M) leader Manik Sarkar attended the event among other dignitaries, lending his presence to the occasion marking nearly five decades of the newspaper’s journey.
The camp saw voluntary blood donors come forward alongside individuals pledging posthumous body and eye donation, reflecting the spirit of social service that has accompanied the paper’s foundation day observances over the years. Organisers said such humanitarian initiatives have become a regular feature of the anniversary celebrations, aimed at encouraging wider public participation in life-saving causes.
The foundation day programme underscored the newspaper’s continuing engagement with the community beyond its core publishing activities, with representatives of various organisations and members of the public joining in to mark the milestone.
