CPI(M) State Secretary Reacts to ADC Elections, CPI(ML) to Contest Alongside Left Front

AGARTALA: Political activity has intensified ahead of the upcoming Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections, with parties firming up their positions and alliance equations. Reacting to the developments, the CPI(M) state secretary said CPI(ML) has decided to contest the polls alongside the Left Front, underlining the emphasis being placed on coordination and a joint fight among Left parties.

He clarified that no discussions have taken place with the Congress regarding any electoral understanding, adding that the Left Front has held no talks on seat-sharing or alliance with the Congress for the ADC polls. He further questioned the Congress’s organisational strength in the hill areas, asserting that the party lacks a solid base there, and said the Left Front therefore sees no need to work out any special political equation involving the Congress.

The CPI(M) leader indicated that the Left Front would contest the elections highlighting the problems, rights and development needs of the hill people, with plans to build a strong electoral position through unity among Left parties.
