AGARTALA: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha welcomed a team of central BJP leaders who arrived in Tripura on a two-day visit aimed at finalising a political alliance with Tipra Motha ahead of the upcoming Village Committee elections.
BJP’s national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh arrived in the state on September 1, accompanied by the party’s Northeast coordinator Sambit Patra and state leaders Ravindra Raju and Rajdeep Roy. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha welcomed the central leadership at the State Guest House near Khejurbagan in Agartala.
Although multiple rounds of talks have been held in Delhi over a seat-sharing arrangement between the BJP and Tipra Motha for the Village Committee polls, no final decision has been reached so far, making the central leadership’s two-day visit to the state significant.
Political observers say the outcome of the talks during this visit could shape the electoral equation in the hill areas ahead of the polls.
