Agartala :Women’s safety and the law-and-order situation in the capital have once again come under scrutiny. Amid allegations of growing activities by drug peddlers and anti-social elements, a college-going young homemaker was allegedly abducted from the MBB College campus in the capital.
According to police sources, the incident reportedly took place yesterday at around 2:20 PM. A group of alleged miscreants reportedly arrived in a white vehicle in broad daylight, forcibly took the young woman into the vehicle and assaulted her.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly obtained the woman’s husband’s mobile number and demanded ₹10 lakh. They allegedly threatened to kill the woman if the money was not paid.
It is further alleged that four accused persons subsequently took the young woman to an isolated location in the vehicle, where she was allegedly assaulted. At one point, she reportedly lost consciousness. The accused allegedly abandoned her near the Madhupur Bazar area, close to Kamalasagar, before fleeing the spot.
After regaining consciousness, the woman reportedly returned home with the assistance of local residents. She subsequently approached the East Agartala Women’s Police Station and lodged a complaint.
Following the complaint, Women’s Police Station Officer-in-Charge Inspector Shakuntala Debbarma reportedly registered a case. The case number is 43/2025. The case has reportedly been registered under Sections 140(1), 115(2), 70(1), 355(1), 308 and 6(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, as mentioned in the complaint. Woman Sub-Inspector Nirupa Dey has reportedly been assigned as the Investigating Officer.
However, no arrests had been reported as of the time of publication. The alleged abduction of a college-going young homemaker in the capital has sparked concern among residents. Police have started a detailed investigation into the incident.
