Agartala: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday faced the media before leaving for New Delhi, addressing questions on his visit, the surrendered militants’ scheduled meeting on the 13th, and the state Pay Commission issue.
Dr Saha indicated he may hold discussions in New Delhi amid reports that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has summoned TIPRA Motha Party leaders, including founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, ahead of the upcoming Village Committee elections in Tripura. Speaking to reporters before departure, he said his return to Delhi was linked to the possibility of further discussions, though he did not yet have exact details of the meeting’s nature.
Explaining his frequent Delhi trips, the Chief Minister said he was actually meant to stay in Delhi throughout, but chose to return to Agartala for a day to get some work done. Asked specifically about a possible meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Dr Saha said there was a chance of it happening.
The Chief Minister also touched upon the surrendered militants’ meeting scheduled for the 13th and developments concerning the Pay Commission, though further specifics are expected to emerge as discussions progress in the capital.
