Bishalgarh: Bulldozers are set to be deployed soon against shops and houses illegally constructed on NHIDCL’s government road in Bishalgarh subdivision, as authorities launched an eviction drive on Friday.
Officials of the Bishalgarh subdivisional administration, along with NHIDCL representatives, conducted a survey covering the stretch from the Charilam Forest Office to Bishramganj Bazar, identifying structures encroaching upon government land earmarked for road development.
Those found to have illegally occupied the road have been served notices and given five days to vacate the premises voluntarily. DCM Prasenjit Das warned that strict action, including demolition, would be taken against anyone failing to comply with the notice within the stipulated timeframe.
Police personnel from both Bishalgarh and Bishramganj police stations accompanied administrative officials during the operation, ensuring law and order was maintained throughout the exercise.
The move comes amid the state government’s broader push to clear encroachments on national highway and road development land to facilitate infrastructure projects. Local shopkeepers and residents affected by the notice expressed concern over the short timeframe, though officials maintained that the action was necessary to ensure unhindered progress of the road project in the area.
