Agartala: The All Tripura Teachers’ Association (ATTA), Post Office Chowmuhani Unit, has submitted a memorandum to the Director of School Education (Secondary), raising several demands aimed at addressing longstanding problems in the state’s education system.
In the memorandum, the association demanded urgent measures to resolve the shortage of teachers across schools, along with a resolution of pending issues related to the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). It also called for the implementation of a fair and rational salary structure for teachers.
Among other key demands, ATTA sought an immediate stop to the collection of money from parents and guardians by schools, alleging that such practices place undue financial burden on families. The association further demanded an end to political interference in the functioning of School Management Committees, stating that such interference undermines the autonomy and smooth administration of educational institutions.
ATTA representatives said the demands reflect long-standing concerns of teachers across the state and urged the education department to take prompt action. They warned that continued inaction on these issues could adversely affect the overall quality of education in Tripura.
The department is yet to issue an official response to the memorandum.
