Tripura Rolls Out Budget Welfare Schemes, Expands Social Support: Minister Tinku Roy

Agartala: Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy on Tuesday announced the successful rollout of four major welfare schemes introduced in the 2025-26 fiscal budget, aimed at strengthening social security and empowering marginalized communities.

Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat, Minister Roy highlighted key initiatives targeting women and child development. Under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, a financial grant of ₹50,000 is being provided for the marriage of daughters from underprivileged Antyodaya families to combat child marriage. Additionally, the Mukhyamantri Balika Samriddhi Yojana secures the future of newborn girl children with a ₹50,000 fixed deposit.

Focusing on the welfare of specially-abled citizens, the Minister stated that 3,492 individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, or cerebral palsy are receiving ₹5,000 monthly under the CMSPID scheme. The state is also investing ₹25 crore to build a modern recreation center for them. Currently, 20,027 Divyangjan beneficiaries receive a monthly allowance of ₹2,000.

Infrastructure upgrades include converting 100 Anganwadi centers into English-medium model schools, upgrading 562 centers into Saksham Anganwadis, and constructing 10 new working women’s hostels at an estimated cost of ₹114 crore to accelerate comprehensive social growth.
