AGARTALA: The Tripura Government has announced significant changes to its advertisement policy, introducing new criteria for categorizing print, electronic and digital media outlets.
Under the revised framework, media houses will be classified on the basis of circulation, coverage, staffing and website traffic. The new parameters are expected to determine how outlets are grouped under the government’s advertisement system.
The policy extends beyond traditional newspapers to cover electronic and digital platforms, reflecting the growing role of online media in news dissemination. For print media, circulation and coverage are among the key benchmarks, while staffing strength has also been included as a criterion. For digital outlets, website traffic will be a deciding factor.
The move marks a shift in how the state evaluates media organizations for the purpose of government advertisements, bringing all three segments under a common set of categorization norms.
