AGARTALA: The Tripura Pradesh Congress on Sunday observed a statewide “Black Day” protest, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Ganesh Kumar.
Party leaders held demonstrations across the state, alleging that democratic rights were being curtailed. The protesters targeted the Election Commission’s functioning, accusing it of undermining the democratic process.
The Congress has been among the vocal critics of the poll body, and the “Black Day” call was aimed at drawing public attention to its charges. Party workers gathered at various locations to register their protest and raised slogans against the Commission.
The demand for the CEC’s resignation marks an escalation in the party’s campaign against the Election Commission. The Commission has not yet responded to the allegations made by the Congress.
