AGARTALA: TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has urged the Centre to begin implementing the Tripura (Tiprasa) Accord, saying the indigenous communities have been waiting for progress on key issues, including land rights.
The tripartite agreement was signed on March 2, 2024 between TIPRA Motha, the Centre and the Tripura government in New Delhi. It seeks to amicably resolve issues of the indigenous people relating to history, land and political rights, economic development, identity, culture and language.
Debbarma has raised the delay in implementation several times. In July 2025 he said the accord was meant to be enforced within six months of signing, and asked the Centre and the state government to begin the process without further delay. Chief Minister Manik Saha said in September that implementation would be taken up after the village committee elections, beginning “next month.” No detailed schedule was given.
Land rights and financial autonomy of the TTAADC are among the issues raised in talks with the Centre.
