AGARTALA: Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman has claimed that the party is showing signs of revival in the tribal areas of Tripura, following the results of the recent village committee elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
The Congress contested the polls separately from the BJP, Tipra Motha Party and IPFT, which fought as part of the NDA. According to State Election Commission figures, the party had fielded candidates for 466 of the 4,597 seats, about 10.1 per cent. The CPI(M), also contesting on its own, had nominations for 2,487 seats.
