AGARTALA: A blood donation camp was organised at Pragna Bhavan here on Thursday as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan,’ a nationwide service campaign launched ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
The camp was attended by Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, along with officials of the Health Department and other dignitaries.
Dr Saha inspected the camp and interacted with blood donors, underlining the importance of voluntary blood donation. “There is no substitute for blood in saving human lives. Healthy citizens should come forward regularly to donate blood voluntarily,” he said.
Organisers said various social and service-oriented programmes are being carried out through the month centred on the Prime Minister’s birthday, with the blood donation drive forming part of a broader push that includes health awareness campaigns and other community initiatives aimed at reaching the general public.
They added that bringing people from all sections of society into such service activities is among the key objectives of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.’
