SABROOM: A 28-year-old man was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his residence in Amalaki Para, Srinagar, under Poyangbari RD Block in South Tripura district, late Monday night.
The deceased has been identified as Prasenjit Chakraborty. According to police, he had returned home from Srinagar Bazar and was found dead inside his house at around 10:12 pm. The body was sent to the morgue at Srinagar Primary Hospital for postmortem examination.
Speaking to reporters, the deceased’s elder brother, Abhijit Chakraborty, said there was no family discord or dispute involving his brother prior to the incident.
On receiving information, Second Officer Swapan Malla of Srinagar Outpost Police Station rushed to the spot and began preliminary investigations. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the locality.
Residents in the area have demanded a thorough police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death, questioning what could have led to it in the absence of any reported family trouble. Police said further probe is underway to ascertain the exact cause.
