JIRANIA: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) filed nomination papers for the upcoming Village Committee elections in Jirania Block on Tuesday, marked by a procession of party workers and supporters through the area.
The procession began in front of the Jirania Block office, with party candidates and supporters marching to the Jirania RD Block office, where nomination papers were submitted following prescribed procedure.
Majlishpur MLA and Minister Sushanta Chowdhury was present during the nomination filing, and visible enthusiasm was seen among BJP workers and supporters throughout the event.
Speaking to reporters, Chowdhury said the party had filed nominations for three village committees under Jirania Block — Madhabbari, West Barjala, and Bishrambari — along with one candidate for the North Joynagar Village Committee.
With the Village Committee elections approaching, various political parties have stepped up their preparations, and campaigning is expected to intensify in the coming days. The BJP’s procession and nomination filing in Jirania reflected the party’s electoral readiness ahead of the polls.
