Agartala: Former militants have issued a warning of a 72-hour statewide “chakka bandh” (vehicle shutdown) across Tripura starting September 4, demanding fulfilment of their long-pending demands and promises. The announcement has already triggered discussion in political and administrative circles. State government minister Bikash Debbarma held important talks on the demands raised by the former militants and their announced programme.
According to the former militants, many of the promises made to them at various points in the past remain unfulfilled. They have long been appealing to the concerned authorities for these demands to be implemented, but with no resolution in sight, they have decided to move toward a larger agitation.
