AGARTALA: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Agartala on Thursday evening for a significant two-day official visit to Tripura. The Home Minister, who flew in from Meghalaya after chairing the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Shillong, was warmly received at the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and senior civil and security officials.
The high-profile visit comes amid heavily tightened security across the state, particularly in the West Tripura district. On Friday, the Home Minister is scheduled to chair a high-level security review meeting at the Border Security Force (BSF) Tripura Frontier Headquarters in Shalbagan. The meeting, which will include Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, the Chief Secretary, and top police and BSF officials, will focus heavily on border management, checking infiltration, and accelerating the deployment of advanced Smart Border Management Systems along the sensitive India-Bangladesh frontier.
In addition to security briefings, Amit Shah will spearhead key developmental initiatives. He is slated to visit selected border outposts, interact with jawans at a ‘Sainik Sammelan,’ and perform the groundbreaking Bhoomi Pujan for the premium Pushpabanta Royal Palace Hotel project, a major heritage tourism initiative being developed by the Tata Group at the Old Raj Bhavan premises.
