AGARTALA: Union Home Minister Amit Shah issued a stern warning against illegal infiltration on Friday, asserting that the Central Government will not tolerate artificial demographic changes in border states like Tripura, West Bengal, and Bihar.
Addressing Border Security Force (BSF) jawans during a high-level visit to the Lankamura Border Outpost along the India-Bangladesh border, the Home Minister emphasized that national security and regional demographic stability remain the Centre’s highest priorities. He noted that the Tripura Frontier is of vital strategic importance to India’s territorial integrity.
To eliminate vulnerabilities along the international border, Shah announced that the government’s comprehensive “Smart Border” project has entered its final deployment stage. Under this initiative, advanced technology—including electronic surveillance, drones, and smart fencing—is being piloted across seven to eight strategic locations to bridge existing gaps in physical guarding.
Marking World Environment Day, the Home Minister also participated in a symbolic tree-plantation drive at the outpost alongside BSF personnel. Praising the jawans for treating planted saplings with familial devotion, Shah concluded that an impregnable, tech-driven security grid, combined with the unwavering vigil of border sentinels, will decisively secure the nation’s frontiers.
