TELIAMURA: An elderly woman, believed to be around 60 years of age, died of electrocution on Thursday after accidentally coming into contact with live electricity while carrying out household chores at her residence in the Karailang area under Teliamura police station.
The deceased has been identified as Anu Yadav. According to family members, she was engaged in her daily domestic work when she suddenly touched an electrically charged object or wire, sustaining a severe electric shock.
Alerted by the incident, family members immediately rushed her to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment. However, doctors on duty examined her and declared her dead.
News of the sudden death spread quickly through the locality, drawing relatives and neighbours to the hospital, where an atmosphere of grief prevailed through the day.
Police sources said the exact cause of the electrical fault is yet to be ascertained, and further investigation into the incident is underway.
The incident has once again underscored the dangers of household electrical hazards, with residents calling for greater caution and timely maintenance of electrical wiring to prevent such tragedies.
