Agartala: Members of the state committee of the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) Contractors’ Association met with the Managing Director (MD) of the Power Department on Thursday, pressing for the immediate release of long-pending payments and other related demands.
According to the association, contractors have completed various development works for TSECL over the past nearly two years, but their bills remain unpaid, pushing many into severe financial distress. Members alleged that the prolonged delay has made it increasingly difficult to pay workers’ wages, settle outstanding dues with material suppliers, and even meet basic household expenses.
During the meeting, the contractors’ body placed a set of key demands before the MD, urging prompt action to clear the backlog of payments and prevent further hardship to those associated with the corporation’s projects.
The association members underlined that timely disbursement of dues was essential not only for the financial stability of contractors but also for ensuring the smooth continuation of development and infrastructure works undertaken on behalf of TSECL.
They urged the MD to expedite the process and called for a definite timeline to be communicated regarding the release of the pending bills.
