Solidarity Programme Held in Agartala for Sonam Wangchuk’s Delhi Hunger Strike

AGARTALA: A solidarity programme was organised in front of the Gandhi statue at the Circuit House here in support of environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk, who is reportedly on a hunger strike in Delhi backing various demands raised by students, including the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Participants at the Agartala event expressed support for Wangchuk’s protest and the broader set of student demands being raised in the national capital, according to organisers.

Wangchuk, known for his environmental activism, has reportedly taken up the hunger strike as part of efforts to press the Centre on the students’ demands, though further specifics of the demands and the current status of his health were not immediately available.

The Agartala gathering reflects growing attention to the Delhi protest beyond the capital, with local participants gathering to register their support for the cause.
