Villagers Plant Paddy Saplings on Neglected Road in Kamalpur, Demand Urgent Repair

KAMALPUR: In a unique form of protest, villagers in Kamalpur planted paddy saplings on a muddy, unrepaired road on Tuesday, demanding immediate restoration of the crucial link that has remained in disrepair for a decade.

The road under Dakshin Manik Bhandar Panchayat serves as the only route connecting Bhubon Chhara, Shilpara, and Durai Chhara to the rest of the area. Residents said the stretch has been left without maintenance for nearly 10 years, turning into a muddy, near-impassable path, particularly during the monsoon.

Having lost faith in repeated assurances from the administration, villagers said the paddy-planting demonstration was aimed at drawing urgent attention to their long-pending demand.

Locals alleged that despite repeated appeals to authorities over the years, no concrete steps have been taken to repair the road, causing severe hardship for residents, especially students, patients, and daily commuters who depend on it.

Villagers urged the administration to take swift action, warning of further protests if the road is not repaired soon.
