KAMALPUR: Students of Kamalpur Maharani High School staged a road blockade on the Kamalpur-Ambassa road on Tuesday morning, protesting the transfer of a teacher from the school.
Scores of students sat on the roadway, halting vehicular movement for an extended period as they raised slogans demanding the transfer order be revoked. The agitation caused traffic disruption on the busy stretch, inconveniencing commuters.
According to sources, the students were protesting against the recent transfer of a teacher, alleging that the move would adversely affect academic activities at the school. They demanded that authorities reconsider the decision and allow the teacher to continue at the institution.
Local police reached the spot following the blockade and engaged with the protesting students in an attempt to restore normal traffic flow. Efforts were reportedly underway to persuade the students to withdraw the agitation.
The situation remained tense as students continued to press their demand, with further developments awaited on the matter.
