AGARTALA: A state-level seminar on livestock health security, focusing on modern technology and innovative initiatives for disease prevention, surveillance, and control, was held on Tuesday at Pragya Bhawan here.
The seminar, titled “Livestock Health Security: Innovative Initiatives in Disease Prevention, Surveillance and Control,” was inaugurated by ARDD Secretary Deepa D. Nair. ARDD Director Dr. N.K. Chanchal and other experts were also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Nair said livestock rearing has expanded significantly in the state over the past five years, prompting the need to train veterinarians and stakeholders on emerging animal diseases. She added that special emphasis is being placed on preventing and controlling diseases that can spread from animals to humans.
Experts from Assam and other states are taking part in the seminar to update the state’s veterinarians and officials on modern methods of disease prevention, surveillance, and treatment, she said.
Officials, veterinarians, and departmental representatives attended the discussions, which centred on technology-driven surveillance, coordinated disease control, and boosting productivity while safeguarding public health. The seminar will continue throughout the day.
