Bishramganj School Students Block National Highway Over Transfer of Lone English Teacher

Bishramganj: Students of Bishramganj Higher Secondary School blocked the national highway on Tuesday in protest against the transfer of English teacher Tania Saha, who they claimed was the institution’s only teacher for the subject, catering to nearly 1,400 students.

According to students, the school has been functioning with a severe shortage of teaching staff for English, with Saha reportedly being the sole faculty member handling the subject across all classes. Following her transfer order, agitated students blocked the national highway, demanding that the decision be revoked and that an adequate number of English teachers be posted to the school immediately.

The blockade reportedly caused traffic disruption in the area for a considerable period, inconveniencing commuters before normalcy was restored.

Students alleged that the shortage of subject teachers has been adversely affecting their academic preparation, particularly with examinations approaching, and demanded urgent intervention from the Education Department to address the staffing crisis.
