Shantirbazar: Concern is growing among residents of Shantirbazar in South Tripura over the condition of the local railway station, with locals alleging that the premises have increasingly become a hub for anti-social activities.
According to local residents, the station’s two-storey building and its surrounding areas have reportedly turned into a regular spot for drug use and unrestricted loitering, particularly during late hours. Allegations have also surfaced that empty condom packets have been found scattered in various parts of the station premises, fuelling concern and prompting questions among locals regarding the lack of adequate security and supervision.
Residents claim that the absence of regular patrolling or monitoring at the station has allowed such activities to continue unchecked over time, raising serious questions about the safety of commuters, particularly women and children, who use the station.
There has been no official response so far from railway authorities or local police regarding the allegations.
Locals have urged the concerned departments to step up security arrangements, increase surveillance, and ensure regular maintenance of the station to curb such activities and restore a sense of safety in the area.
