Agartala:The Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress took to the streets on Monday, organising a large protest rally against what they described as rampant injustice, corruption, skyrocketing prices and growing unemployment plaguing the state and the country. The demonstration, however, turned tense when a scuffle broke out between protesters and police personnel at the Araimesa Chowmuhani area, adding a dramatic edge to the otherwise vocal agitation.
The rally, called under the banner of Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress, saw a significant turnout of party workers and supporters who marched through the streets raising slogans and holding placards demanding immediate government action on a range of pressing issues affecting the common people.
Among the key demands raised by the protesters was the urgent need for justice in connection with the NEET question paper leak scandal, which has sparked outrage across the country and raised serious concerns about the integrity of one of India’s most important entrance examinations. The protesters strongly condemned what they called a systematic failure to protect the future of students.
The demonstrators also raised their voices against the continuous and steep rise in fuel prices, including CNG, PNG, LPG, petrol and diesel, which they argued has placed an unbearable burden on ordinary households and small businesses alike. Additionally, they demanded that the government take immediate steps to control the runaway prices of essential commodities and address the deepening unemployment crisis by creating meaningful employment opportunities for the youth.
Tensions escalated when the procession reached Araimesa Chowmuhani, where a scuffle broke out between agitating protesters and police personnel deployed at the site. The situation was eventually brought under control, though it momentarily created panic among bystanders.
Youth Congress leaders vowed to continue their agitation until their demands are met by the authorities.
