Truck Stuck for 8 Hours on Damaged NH-08 Stretch, Champaknagar Traffic Paralysed

AGARTALA:A truck remained stuck for nearly eight hours on a damaged stretch of the under-construction Assam-Agartala National Highway (NH-08) at Champaknagar’s Jampui Chowmuni area, triggering a massive traffic jam and severe hardship for commuters, according to local reports.

Hundreds of vehicles were left stranded on both sides of the road as movement came to a standstill, with drivers and passengers reportedly expressing anger over the prolonged disruption. The truck driver, speaking to the media, detailed the circumstances that led to the vehicle getting stuck on the poor road surface.

Locals allege the highway’s four-laning work has progressed at a sluggish pace, and blame the delay for recurring public suffering along the stretch. Commuters said such incidents have become frequent on the corridor, with damaged patches turning routine travel into an ordeal.

Authorities are yet to respond to the allegations regarding the pace of construction.
