Panchayat Reps Warned Against Irregularities at Belonia District Panch Sammelan

BELONIA: A district-level Panch Sammelan was held here on Monday at the Old Town Hall, bringing together panchayat representatives from across South Tripura district in the context of the VB-GRAM-G Act, 2025 (Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission, Rural).

The conference was inaugurated by Panchayat and Higher Education Minister Kishore Barman, with Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, South Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Deepak Dutta, and social worker Dipayan Chowdhury among those present. Panchayat pradhans, up-pradhans, panchayat samiti members and other representatives from across the district attended, marking active participation at every tier of the panchayat system.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Barman issued a stern warning to pradhans and up-pradhans against tolerating any irregularities in panchayat functioning, stressing transparency and accountability in governance. He also spoke at length on rural development, employment generation, delivery of government scheme benefits to the public, and strengthening the panchayat system.

Discussions at the event further focused on boosting rural employment and livelihood opportunities. Organised by the district administration, the conference drew considerable enthusiasm among public representatives, who felt such platforms would help reinforce transparency and effectiveness in panchayat governance going forward.
