Mungiakami Police Seize 29 kg Cannabis, Two Detained

MUNGIAKAMI: Police here detained two individuals and seized 29 kg of dry cannabis following a raid on Rail Station Road on Friday night, based on a tip-off.

Acting on secret information that two men were moving along the road carrying a large quantity of banned cannabis, a police team swiftly launched the operation and detained the duo, who were found loitering suspiciously in the area. A search of their bags revealed the cannabis hidden inside. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth over four lakh rupees in the market.

The operation was led by SI Rajat Moni Jamatia of Mungiakami Police Station. The detained individuals are currently being interrogated to determine the source of the cannabis and its intended destination for trafficking. Police are also probing whether others are linked to the case.

Mungiakami OC Raju Baidya said anti-narcotics operations would continue in the coming days, with regular raids planned specifically targeting cannabis trafficking and illegal drug trade in the region.

The incident has caused a stir among local residents, coming amid heightened police efforts against drug trafficking across the district.
