AGARTALA: A large public rally was held at Astabal Maidan here on the occasion of the 22nd Tripura State Conference of the All India Kisan Sabha, drawing farmers from across the state in a procession followed by a public meeting.
The gathering was addressed by the organisation’s General Secretary Vijoo Krishnan and senior leader Hannan Mollah, with Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chowdhury and Pabitra Kar also among those present at the rally.
The conference, held once every few years, brings together delegates of the farmers’ body to deliberate on agrarian issues and chart the organisation’s course in the state. The public rally at Astabal Maidan formed a key part of the conference proceedings, with a mobilised gathering marching to the ground ahead of the meeting.
