AGARTALA: The Tripura Sadar District Mahila Congress today launched a campaign demanding the immediate implementation of women’s reservation, with the slogan “Implement Women’s Reservation — Do it Today, Do it Now.”
As part of the initiative, party workers sent a letter to the Prime Minister through the postal department, urging the Centre to implement women’s reservation across all 543 Lok Sabha seats without further delay.
Members of the organisation alleged that despite the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill, the Centre had not taken adequate steps to operationalise the reservation, leaving women’s political representation in limbo.
The Mahila Congress workers reiterated their demand for time-bound implementation of the Act, asserting that continued delay defeats the very purpose of the legislation and deprives women of their rightful representation in Parliament.
The campaign saw participation from several party functionaries and members, who voiced their concerns over the slow pace of implementation and called upon the Central Government to act with urgency on the matter.
