MANDAI: Residents of Harbang Panchayat under Mandai Block have accused the panchayat secretary and staff of gross negligence, alleging that the office remains shut on working days without explanation, leaving people stranded for months over routine paperwork.
Villagers said they have been forced to make repeated visits to the panchayat office over several months seeking their Record of Rights (RoR), only to find the work undone each time. Many, they said, travel long distances for panchayat-related tasks and are turned away empty-handed when the office is found closed despite falling on a scheduled working day.
Speaking to the media, local residents detailed their grievances and demanded that the concerned department take action against the panchayat staff responsible for the alleged lapses.
No response has yet been received from the Mandai Block administration or the Harbang Panchayat office regarding the allegations.
The incident has added to growing resident discontent over panchayat-level service delivery in the block.
